Say it renews, right before the card form

Under the federal Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA), an online subscription has to clearly show all its material terms before you collect billing details. In practice, show four things near the card form:

  • The price.
  • How often it charges.
  • That it renews until cancelled.
  • How to cancel.

These are easy to miss. When our checker read the public pages of 169 subscription sites, 36 had no auto-renew wording we could find, and 41 didn't show the price and billing frequency together.

One plain sentence fixes most of it: "$X a month, renews monthly until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Settings."
