Raising your price? Give California customers 7 to 30 days' notice
Planning a price change? If you have subscribers in California, the Automatic Renewal Law asks you to tell existing customers before the new fee takes effect: no less than 7 days and no more than 30 days ahead. That applies even if they agreed to the change earlier.
The notice needs two things, in a form they can keep, like an email:
- A clear note of the fee change.
- How to cancel.
A good one also says what the new price is, when it starts and what they get for it. Customers who stay after a plain, early heads-up tend to stay without surprises or disputes.
